Cote d’ Ivoire and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been crowned the 2011 Africa Best Player for the first time pipping Seydou Keita and Andre Ayew to the award.

Toure came out top in the annual award for the year under review sponsored by Glo Mobile, one of the official sponsors of the African Nations Cup. {jcomments on}

The three players received the Golden, Silver and Bronze trophies respectively.

Yaya Toure starred for Manchester City helping them to win the English FA Cup by scoring the final goal against Stoke City and has continued his heroics as they lead the standings this season.

Sports personalities including a host of current and former legends of the beautiful game from the continent gathered at the Banquet Hall, State House to honour nominees for the year under review.
